The League of Legends College League (LCL), organized by Tencent, is a major e-sports tournament for university students, one of the most influential and widely-covered events in China. On May 17th and 18th, the 12th edition of the League of Legends University Tournament concluded with an exciting finale at the Basketball Hall of Xincheng Sports Center in Chengdu City, treating all e-sports enthusiasts to a thrilling spectacle! On May 18th afternoon, the Mobile Legends Solo Track Final, a Guest Performance Match, and the PC League of Legends Track Final took place. Ultimately, Zhang Lifan from Hebei Normal University emerged as the champion of the Mobile Solo Track, while Jiangxi Software Vocational and Technical College triumphed in the PC League of Legends Track!
Mobile Solo Track
First Match: Yasuo’s Inner War Decides Victory
In their first match, both players chose the highly technical Yasuo. Despite similar skills, Zhang Lifan demonstrated better control over minions and the Scorpion mechanism in the top lane. In a series of evenly matched clashes, he consistently created opportunities to push the line through the Scorpion, eventually capitalizing on a positioning mistake by his opponent to secure victory.
Second Match: Irelia’s Ultimate Pursuit Ties the Score
After losing with Yasuo, Zhang Liang from Shijiazhuang Engineering Vocational College switched to Irelia to face Zhang Lifan’s Yasuo. Although Irelia has stronger late-game potential, Zhang Lifan’s Yasuo dominated early, pressuring Irelia under her tower. However, fortune favors the bold, and Zhang Liang capitalized on a moment when Zhang Lifan overextended, using Irelia’s Q3 knock-up and ultimate to chase him down, turning the tide and evening the score in the later game.
Third Match: Dash Forward, Swirling Like the Wind, Seals the Win
Undeterred by his second-match loss, Zhang Lifan confidently picked Yasuo again against Zhang Liang’s Irelia. This time, he avoided any openings, and the match extended into the mid-to-late game. Zhang Lifan showcased his Yasuo’s mobility, dodging Irelia’s deadly blows and dazzling his opponent with his skills, ultimately defeating him and destroying a tower to secure the win.
Fourth Match: Yasuo Overpowers All, Claims the Title
Switching back to Jayce, Zhang Liang attempted to counter Zhang Lifan’s persistent Yasuo. Initially, Jayce secured advantages with its skillset and early aggression. After a near-death experience in the first level, Zhang Lifan regained composure, outmaneuvering Jayce and pushing him under the tower, exploiting Yasuo’s zero-cost abilities. Zhang Lifan wore down the tower’s health with minion pressure and demolished it in front of Jayce, winning the match and claiming the championship title of the Mobile Solo Track Finals!
PC Performance Match
Following the intense mobile solo matches, ten guests were invited to participate in a lively exhibition match. The “Heroes Team,” consisting of game streamers, creators, and a Riot designer, faced off against the “League Team” in a fun-filled competition. The Heroes Team’s Old Dragon Lady and Ah Shuai showcased their signature heroes, while Huang Dali on the top lane excelled against Old Z’s new Scorpion, securing multiple kills and even double kills. With the “Zac and Puck” duo wreaking havoc across the map, the Heroes Team established a massive lead and easily claimed victory.
