After securing a 2-1 victory against Vitality in the IEM Dallas Grand Final, G2’s huNter- sat down for an interview with a foreign media outlet.
Q: Congratulations on the win. You had a tough third map. What are your thoughts on the match?
A: Thank you. It’s still too early to talk about the game, to be honest. I don’t even know what happened, I need to rewatch it to understand our real performance in Dallas. Overall, I feel good, but today was exhausting. Vitality is an excellent team. Honestly, every round on every map mattered, and we enjoyed every moment.
Q: Do you think you found the right chemistry? Is it time to start the G2 dynasty?
A: That’s hard to say. We played well. Playing with Jake Yip | Stewie2K, we had less pressure, not no pressure, but maybe half of what we would have with the full roster. That’s mainly why we advanced from the group stage smoothly. In the playoffs, the crowd support pushed us forward, and it was tough for the opponents, of course.
It’s too soon to say why we won or if we can win more, the main thing now is to enjoy this victory, and then we’ll see what the future holds.
Q: How do you think Stewie2K felt playing in front of the home crowd?
A: I’m sure he felt amazing, it must have been a dream come true for him and all of us. Raising the trophy felt like a dream – playing in the US, having him step in as a substitute, and then defeating top-three teams in the world (Vitality, MOUZ, and FaZe) to win the championship. It’s a crazy story, and I’m glad to be a part of it.
Q: Any message for the fans who’ve been supporting you?
A: I want to thank everyone. I’m thrilled to win this event, especially with the crowd watching. Thank you to the audience here and also to the fans in China and Europe who support us in every match. Sorry for the times we didn’t perform well, it’s not easy for us either. So, thank you again for the support, and hopefully, we’ll meet again.
