5minlab to reveal new game ‘Undusted’ at Wholesome Direct 2024



KRAFTON’s creative studio, 5minlab, is set to unveil its latest title, “Undusted: Letters from the Past” (shortened as “Undusted”), during the Independent Games Showcase, Wholesome Direct 2024, on June 9.

In “Undusted,” players engage in cleaning and restoring rusty old items. Using various cleaning tools like cloths and toothbrushes, they restore items like teacups and cassette players to their original states. Throughout the restoration process, players can check which areas still require cleaning and monitor progress through a repair progress bar at the bottom of the screen. The chapter concludes when the bar reaches 100%.

Wholesome Direct, run by Wholesome Games, is a global indie game showcase platform with over 500,000 members worldwide. As part of the annual Summer Game Fest, the Wholesome Direct streams via Wholesome Games’ YouTube channel, presenting trailers for various indie games. Focusing on peaceful and family-friendly titles, it highlights the unique charm of indie games. This year’s event takes place on June 8, showcasing over 70 games.

In “Undusted,” the protagonist Adora returns to her childhood home after her mother’s passing and begins to clean neglected nostalgic items. Through this process, she reminisces about the past associated with these objects and uncovers hidden truths, ultimately gaining a deeper understanding of her estranged mother.

Players experience a soothing sensation while restoring items in the game. With its pastel pixel art, the sounds of cleaning tools, and a melancholic soundtrack, “Undusted” offers a relaxing and enjoyable audio-visual experience. Free from competition or conflict, it fosters a warm and comforting atmosphere. Recently, videos with similar concepts have been labeled as “healing shorts,” gaining widespread popularity globally.
