In a conversation with Thorin, kassad expressed his opinion that the current tournament setup does not meet the competitive demands of Counter-Strike.
Kassad stated, “Either the MR12 format or the present economy reset needs to be addressed, as they undermine the competitiveness and spectator appeal of matches.”
Regarding the MR12 format, he emphasized the significance of pistol rounds. Losing a pistol round means teams must save for two rounds to afford full rifles, potentially losing three rounds in the process. This translates to a higher probability of victory for the team that wins the pistol round.
Secondly, he criticized the economy system, arguing that the current 1400-dollar reset is inadequate. He suggests it should start at 1900 dollars. Additionally, the cost of CT-side equipment like flashbangs and defusal kits should be reduced by 100 dollars each. His reasoning is that if the CT side wins the pistol round, they need to buy full armor to protect against headshots from weapons like TEC-9, followed by utility to prevent rushes. This quickly depletes their funds, leaving them with only 1.4k for weapons. Typically, CT’s first-round economy ranges around 3.4k to 3.6k, so the remaining 1.4k doesn’t cover much. Consequently, he believes CT-side item prices should be adjusted downward.
