FaZe Clan’s sniper, broky, was interviewed by a foreign media outlet during EPL S19.
Q: Firstly, congratulations on winning IEM Chengdu. After several runner-up finishes, how does it feel to lift the trophy again?
A: Personally, it feels great to make it back to another final after getting second place so many times. This must be our fourth or fifth final. It’s a new experience for me, as I haven’t had many runner-ups before. So, yeah, I’m very happy that FaZe has won again.
Q: You’ve reached the finals in every CS tournament you’ve participated in lately. What’s the secret to FaZe’s consistent performance?
A: I think FaZe just focuses on playing our own game; there’s no real secret. Also, I feel like the new CS version suits us well, maybe that’s the main reason. We have an advantage in this new game, and we hope to keep winning.
Q: Why do you believe the new CS version favors your team?
A: Maybe because we have a bit of a genius in the team. Like Robin ‘ropz’ Kool, he finds things that others don’t. That’s the most important thing, I think, everyone working hard.
Q: Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen mentioned feeling mentally and physically drained due to the recent string of deep runs in tournaments. Have you been affected similarly?
A: I don’t have that feeling of fatigue. After IEM Chengdu, we had time to rest, so I’m not tired. I’m glad to be here in Malta for another event now.
Q: From your perspective, what impact has the change from Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken to David ‘frozen’ Čerňanský had on the team?
A: It’s hard to compare Twistzz and frozen. I’ve played with Twistzz for… I don’t know, a long time, anyway. We had a good understanding of each other, but with frozen, we’ve only been working together for about five months? It’s still a good experience to have a new member on the team.
Q: Entering EPL S19, you’re undoubtedly one of the favorites in Group A. Does being the favorite change your approach to matches?
A: Maybe in the past. When you’re the favorite, you might relax more against lower-ranked teams. But that’s not the case anymore; everyone is at a high level now. Any team can beat anyone. If opponents get two pistol rounds and are on form, they can win easily.
Q: Are there any particular teams you’re eager to face?
A: Not really. But Astralis would probably want another shot at us, since they beat us first in Chengdu, then we got revenge. So, I think they’d like to avenge that loss. If we play them, we’ll be prepared.
Q: If FaZe advances to the playoffs, you’ll have a week off. Do you think this break could cool off your form?
A: I think it depends on the team. If a team lacks experience, they might benefit from playing continuously. For FaZe, it doesn’t matter; whether we have a day off or a week, we have enough experience.
Q: Apart from EPL, what expectations do you have for FaZe this year?
A: We hope to make up for lost time and win the Shanghai Major title.
