After securing the BLAST Premier Spring Final trophy and earning the event’s MVP title, Spirit player donk granted an interview to a foreign media outlet.
The 17-year-old had an impressive 1.25 rating in the playoffs, dispelling doubts that Spirit could only dominate in group stages. Despite being exhausted after a grueling four-map battle, donk gathered his energy to speak about his MVP feelings, his thoughts on this year’s Top 1 player, and his admiration for coach Sergey Shavaev | hally.
Q: Congratulations! This is your third MVP medal of the year. How do you feel?
A: Right now, I can’t really describe my feelings; I’m just too tired. But still, it’s amazing to be MVP, it means a lot to me. However, winning the championship with the team is even more meaningful.
Q: At IEM Katowice, it was more about individual performance, but the BLAST Spring Finals showcased teamwork. What do you think of your teammates, especially sh1ro and zont1x?
A: They are both fantastic, as is the entire Spirit squad. Individually, they’re outstanding. Sometimes, I’m amazed by their plays, decisions, and aim. I’m glad to have them as teammates, and the rest of the guys are great too. It’s an honor to fight alongside them.
Q: How important is it to end the season with a title for you?
A: Honestly, I’m not sure. Our main goal here was to maintain our form before the break. We wanted to show our level and test our strength through our performances. Winning the title was a fantastic outcome.
Q: Considering your current form, how big of a chance do you see yourself as the Top 1 player this year?
A: I haven’t really thought about it, but I believe Ilya Osipov | m0NESy has the best chance to top the rankings this year.
Q: CS is a team game, so do you think Spirit can become the Team of the Year?
A: If we continue working the way we do, we have a shot at it. As long as we keep pushing hard and stay on the right path, we’ll move towards success.
Q: Tell us about chopper and hally. How much have they contributed to your personal growth?
A: They’ve been instrumental. hally has put in a lot within the team. It’s hard to explain, but they’ve done so much. He’s like our secret sixth man, greatly assisting both me and my teammates.
Q: What does hally do during timeouts? He seemed to have a significant impact in the tournament.
A: He’s very influential. When he calls a timeout, it’s usually because he feels we’re not doing things right, making mistakes. He needs to refocus us on the game, communication, and individual aim. In big events, timeouts are crucial. They help cool down overheated minds and regain composure, which is vital when things aren’t going well.
