KRAFTON has announced the hosting of the global esports competition for “PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS,” known as the “PUBG Global Series 3 (PGS 3).”
PGS 3 marks the first global event of the 2024 PUBG esports calendar, featuring 24 top professional teams from around the world. This year’s PGS 3 will include 14 teams that excelled in regional series events and 10 global partner club teams.
Among the global partner clubs from the PCL region are 17Gaming, Four Angry Men, and Petrichor Road, who will compete alongside the champion and runner-up from the 2024 PCL Spring Split, NH-ESPORTS and DDTeam.
In the Korean region, KWANGDONG FREECS, Dplus KIA, and GNL ESPORTS, the top three teams from the “2024 PUBG Weekly Series Stage 1,” will face off against Gen.G, another global partner club team.
In the Americas, Soniqs, Team Falcons, TSM, and Legacy will represent their region, while FaZe Clan, Twisted Minds, Natus Vincere, Virtus.pro, and Howl Esports will compete from the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
In the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, CERBERUS Esports and Daytrade Gaming, along with From The Future, eArena, Amory Gaming, and Valee Thai Esports, qualified through regional qualifiers as global partner club teams.
PGS 3 will take place offline in Shanghai, China, consisting of group stages and a final round.
The group stage will be held from May 20 to 22, with the 24 teams divided into three groups of eight teams each, playing six matches per day. PCL teams will be distributed as follows: DDTeam in Group A, Four Angry Men and NH-ESPORTS in Group B, and 17Gaming and Petrichor Road in Group C.
The top 16 teams from the group stage will advance to the grand finals, which will take place from May 24 to 26, lasting three days with a total of 18 matches. The team with the highest ranking at the end will be crowned the PGS 3 champion.
The total prize pool for PGS 3 is $300,000, with the winning team receiving $100,000, while the remaining teams will receive prizes ranging from $40,000 to $1,000 based on their final rankings.
Teams will earn PGS points according to their PGS 3 rankings, which will qualify them for the year-end prestigious international event, the “PUBG Global Championship 2024 (PGC 2024).”
PGC 2024 will start with 16 teams, qualified through regional series and a wildcard slot (invited by the host city). These teams will compete to determine who advances to the next day’s matches. Each day, the top 12 teams from the previous day’s matches will join new teams from the PGS points rankings. Teams ranked 5th to 8th in PGS points will play first, followed by teams ranked 1st to 4th in the final phase.
