Former Endpoint and Into the Breach player, Thomas, has been selected by OG to fill the void left by HeavyGod, and will be participating in the upcoming BLAST Fall Series Group Stage.
Notably, Thomas is taking over the captaincy role from k1to, who assumed the position after nexa’s transfer to G2 earlier this year, with k1to subsequently stepping into HeavyGod’s previous spot.
This will mark Thomas’ third stint as an in-game leader, having previously helmed Into the Breach and 5W. However, his tenure with 5W came to an abrupt end when the team members were unilaterally cut off from the organization, culminating in their revelation of a scam that had been perpetrated.
In an interview, Thomas discussed the lessons he learned from becoming a leader and stated that despite his brief term at 5W, it showcased his capabilities. He said, “I know that wherever I go next, I can focus on building the best possible team.”
The squad he will lead has had a disappointing run in the first half of the year, with its sole highlight being a runner-up finish at the Skyesports Championship. More critically, they lost their top-performing player, HeavyGod, who boasted a 1.16 rating during his time with OG.
The BLAST Fall Series Group Stage is scheduled from July 29th to August 4th in Copenhagen, with six spots up for grabs for the Fall Finals.
The OG roster for this tournament will consist of:
Maciej Miklas | F1KU
Nils Gruhne | k1to
Bram Campana | Nexius
Mădălin-Andrei Mirea | MoDo
Thomas Utting | Thomas
Lambert Prigent | Lambert (Coach)
