The Mail: Luke Shaw still absent from England training, raising doubts about his Euro return

According to today’s Daily Mail, English defender Luke Shaw missed the team’s Friday training session once again, casting doubt on his chances of featuring in this summer’s European Championship.

Shaw has been out of action for five months due to a hamstring injury but was still selected by Gareth Southgate and traveled to Germany. It’s understood that the England medical staff have been in communication with their Manchester United counterparts, hoping Shaw could make a cameo appearance in the final group match against Slovenia.

However, Shaw was absent from full team training on Friday morning, only undertaking individual sessions, leading to questions over his availability for next week’s final fixture. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag had previously suggested that Shaw might not be ready until the knockout stages, while Southgate is keen to bring his return forward.

The left-back position has proved problematic for the team, with Trippier nursing an injury and Gomez and Saka mainly restricted to the bench.
