On June 21st, in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Shanghai Mitsubishi Heavy Industries lost to Chengdu Rongcheng on penalties, ending their run in the round of 32.
Notably, goalkeeper Wu Yaoshengxuan of Shanghai Mitsubishi saved a penalty during the shootout. After the match, Wu commented, “Our entire team gave 100% effort from the first minute until the end of extra time. For me personally, this was the most meaningful and tiring match of my life so far. My legs were almost cramping.”
Wu also shared, “But for me, those 90 minutes felt both slow and enjoyable. I think myself and our team did what we needed to do. Even though we lost on penalties, I believe in the spirit and determination we showed. No matter who the opponent is, we will fight them.”
Reflecting on the disappointing penalty loss, Wu said, “We need to review our own issues and continue improving. We want to reach this stadium again, with a capacity of 80,000, and even higher platforms. Thank you to the fans and the players’ families who came to support us in such hot and rainy weather.”
