June 28th – According to British newspaper The Mirror, Arsenal are nearing an agreement with Spanish goalkeeper García, with Mikel Arteta planning further squad adjustments.
It is reported that Arsenal’s unsuccessful title challenges in the past two seasons have led to a perceived need for midfield reinforcements, although changes in the goalkeeping department seem imminent too.
It is expected that last season’s standout performer, Raya, will take the number one spot, with García likely to assume the role of second-choice goalkeeper. Ramsdale is set to depart Emirates Stadium this summer.
Ramsdale admitted in interviews that he has no intention of spending another season on the bench, stating, “No footballer wants to be out of the game. Personally, it was a tough year for me not playing, and I don’t want to go through that again.”
García is a product of Espanyol’s youth academy and currently has a contract running until June 2028. It is understood that his current deal includes a release clause of €25 million. Last season, he made 21 appearances for Espanyol in the Spanish second division, helping the team secure promotion to La Liga.
