According to Spanish media reports, as Barcelona urgently seeks to strengthen its midfield, the club has received proposals from several player agents, including one for Roma’s Leandro Paredes. However, while acknowledging the player’s abilities and track record, Barcelona is more focused on signing Onana and Merino.
Given that Barcelona’s need for a midfield boost is well-known, numerous agents have been in touch, presenting offers. Paredes, an Argentine international with a year left on his contract at Roma, has also been presented to the club, and his solid performance last season makes him an attractive option given his relatively short contract duration.
The key factor is that Paredes is valued at just €8 million, offering good value for money. Moreover, Barcelona acknowledges his level, given his experience at several top European clubs.
Nonetheless, Paredes is not currently a top priority for Barcelona. Among their targets, Onana and Merino rank higher. Should these two players prove unattainable, Barcelona will look for cost-effective alternatives in the midfield, possibly focusing on younger players.
The reason behind this preference for young players is that they can be loaned out for development, and if they meet Barcelona’s expectations, they could be re-signed at a more affordable price.
