German midfielder Andrich revealed that he consulted his club manager Alonso about the upcoming Spain vs. Germany match.
Xavi Alonso, currently the head coach of Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, led the team to a domestic double of the German League and Cup last season, with several of his proteges, including Andrich, being called up for the German national team. As a Spanish football legend, Alonso naturally supports La Roja.
“I asked him this week, and he said it’s a win-win situation for him,” Andrich said in an interview, jokingly adding, “Personally, I think it’s a feast prepared for us!”
“He encouraged me to stay calm, not get too carried away, and not let emotions take over,” the 29-year-old shared. “I’ve become less easily swayed by external influences, and he has played a big role in that.”
