On July 5, according to L’Équipe, Ligue 1 is set to examine DAZN’s latest offer for the broadcasting rights of French football matches.
With less than two months until the start of the new Ligue 1 season, no broadcaster has yet partnered with the league, causing both anxiety for Ligue 1 officials and frustration among clubs. Without broadcasting revenue, it becomes challenging for Ligue 1 teams to execute their transfer plans.
Initially, Ligue 1 had hoped to secure a billion euros in broadcasting fees for the next cycle (2024-2029), but DAZN did not agree to these terms. Since then, the league has maintained close contact with the broadcaster to negotiate a new deal.
As reported by L’Équipe, DAZN is now considering a fresh proposal. Over the next five seasons, DAZN would pay an average of 375 million euros annually for the rights to key Ligue 1 fixtures each round. For the first season, DAZN would pay 300 million euros, increasing to 500 million euros for the final season.
It’s worth noting that an additional bonus of 50 million euros would be granted to Ligue 1 if the viewer count exceeds 2 million.
