The 53-year-old Shono took charge of Kofu Forest in February 2023 and managed a total of 77 matches, with a record of 30 wins, 18 draws, and 29 losses. In the last eight league fixtures, the team failed to secure a victory, drawing four and losing four, including a goalless draw against Oita Trinita. Following this, the club decided to make a managerial change.

Otsuka, who joined Kofu Forest in 2022 as a first-team coach, will succeed Shono.

In the current J2 League standings, Kofu Forest sits in 14th place with 25 points. The team is set to host Ventforet Kofu in their next league match.
