Is there a comeback? Pogba: I’m like a child aspiring to be a pro, not thinking of retirement yet

In the Round of 16 match of the European Championship between France and Belgium, Pogba was invited as a spectator. During the game, he spoke with Italian Sky Sports. Pogba stated that he currently feels like a youngster eager to become a professional footballer, and retirement is not on his mind for now.

During the match, fans chanted his name, which moved him: “I’m happy that the fans still love me. I haven’t played for a while, so hearing them sing my name made me very happy.”

In August 2023, Pogba tested positive for a banned substance after an Serie A match and was subsequently handed a four-year suspension. However, he has insisted that he will not retire and is still appealing the decision.

“My career? You didn’t hear me say I’m about to retire because I am still a footballer. I’m here, still positive, and still fighting against injustice. Let’s see what happens; things will get better,” he said.

“You might not have seen the full interview – they only showed parts of it. I never said ‘Pogba is no more.’ I still feel like a player, and I’m training with a positive attitude. I’ve spent a lot of time with my family, watching my kids grow. But I can’t do what I love most, which is football. I really want to come back.”

“I’m too eager for all this, just like a kid dreaming of being a pro.”

There were rumors that Juventus would terminate their contract with Pogba prematurely. Responding to this, he said, “As far as I know, I’m still a Juventus player, and I believe the club is waiting for the appeal process. For the rest, you’ll have to ask them.”
