Chaos at the Copa America Final! Eyewitness: Extreme Crowding and Shoving, Severe Lack of Drinking Water at the Scene

On July 15th, during the Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia, the Hard Rock Stadium faced an overwhelming number of ticketless fans, causing the match to be delayed. An official statement from Copa America read: “Fans without tickets will not be allowed into the stadium. Once the stadium reopens, only those with valid tickets can enter.” Tens of thousands of fans were left stranded outside the stadium, including infants.

According to eyewitnesses at the scene: “The situation was extremely chaotic. Fans in the back continuously pushed and crowded those in front. Security personnel responsible for maintaining order shouted at the front-row fans, demanding they keep orderly. It took us three hours of waiting to get into the stadium. This was a disaster. Throughout the process, the organizers provided no assistance to the fans. Under the scorching heat, there wasn’t even drinking water provided.”

Due to the chaos, the start of the match was repeatedly postponed. As more and more fans entered the stadium, finding adequate drinking water became a problem. Fans even faced the predicament of having to rely on the fire department for drinking water. Unscrupulous vendors took advantage of the situation, selling drinking water for $5 per cup.
