According to French media Sports Zone, with Alvaro Morata likely to leave Atlético de Madrid this summer, the club has identified Kylian Mouani of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as their ideal replacement. If they fail to secure Mouani, Roman Dovbyk from Girona will be Atlético’s Plan B.
Despite his underwhelming performances at PSG, Mouani always seems to deliver crucial moments when he returns to the national team. In the semi-finals of the European Championship, Mouani scored France’s first goal from open play in the tournament. Although they were eventually eliminated, Mouani’s performance once again made him a favorite of the press.
Sports Zone reports that Morata is highly likely to depart Atlético de Madrid this summer, with AC Milan being his most probable destination. Within the club, there is a belief that Mouani could compensate for the loss of Morata. At the same time, Atlético has a backup plan in place should PSG refuse to let Mouani go or if the player himself has no interest in leaving. In such a scenario, Atlético would immediately turn their attention to Dovbyk from Girona.
The media outlet further writes that Mouani, who only joined PSG at the beginning of the season, has not yet entertained thoughts of leaving. Despite an unconvincing first season, multiple sources indicate that PSG does not have plans to sign another forward this summer.
