Crossing Two Golden Eras, Navas Claims Major Tournament Glory as Spain's First

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, following Spain’s triumph at the 2024 European Championship, Navas has etched his name into the annals of the Spanish national team as the player with the most titles. He is not only a key member of the Spanish golden generation from over a decade ago but also the elder statesman of the new golden generation. He can be said to have spanned two eras, participating in numerous major tournaments and becoming a legend through his championship-winning exploits.

In the previous golden era, Navas helped Spain secure the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship. However, Navas’ legend did not stop there; he further aided Spain to victory in the 2023 UEFA Nations League and the 2024 European Championship, bringing his title count to an unprecedented four.

Navas’ achievements surpass those of many legendary figures in Spanish football, including Casillas, Xavi, Alonso, Ramos, Fabregas, Fernando Torres, Arbeloa, and David Silva, all of whom have lifted international tournament trophies three times. But Navas stands alone, being the sole Spanish player to have won the World Cup, European Championship, and Nations League.

The Nations League, a relatively new competition that debuted in 2019, saw Navas reach its summit in 2023, further demonstrating the longevity and exceptional talent of his career.

After the final of the 2024 European Championship, Navas played his last match for the national team, announcing his retirement from international duty post-tournament. This legendary winger leaves a significant mark on the Spanish national team’s record book, with his name forever inscribed in the glorious history of Spanish football.
