On July 17, according to German media outlet BILD, Alphonso Davies is set to renew his contract with Bayern Munich, turning down a transfer to Real Madrid, with salary being the only sticking point.
This summer, it was widely known that Davies wanted a move to Real Madrid. Just as everything seemed to be settling into place, a twist occurred.
According to BILD, Davies will accept Bayern’s contract renewal offer but insists on a €150 million release clause. Besides this, the player’s salary is another major point of contention, with Davies seeking a raise to €20 million per season. However, Bayern’s salary cap stands at just €13 million.
It is understood that Davies’ agent wants both sides to meet halfway and is currently negotiating a salary of €16 million. As for Real Madrid, the Spanish giants are closely monitoring Davies’ contract renewal situation, but they do not wish to make any financially extravagant moves for Davies.
