Recently, various media outlets have reported that Spanish national team captain Alvaro Morata is on the verge of transferring to AC Milan. Tomori, a Milan defender who was once a teammate of Morata at Chelsea, expressed his strong endorsement of Morata’s capabilities in an interview, believing that the Spanish forward will be a crucial player for AC Milan in their pursuit of the Serie A title in the new season.
Tomori gave the interview on July 17th during the opening of AC Milan’s newly launched flagship store by the club’s commercial department. The store, located in the heart of Milan, serves to showcase the team’s history, sell club merchandise, and host events, acting as a significant branding initiative and extension of the Milan club’s image. When asked about Morata’s potential move, Tomori said, “I played with him at Chelsea, so I know what he can do. He’s fast, strong, and capable of scoring goals, which will be a huge help for us in the new season. I hope he can become an ideal replacement for Giroud.”
Tomori also stated that winning the Serie A title is AC Milan’s goal for the new season, saying, “We have a new coach, a new tactical system, and a great team atmosphere. Winning the Serie A title is our target, which would be beneficial for both the fans and the team. We haven’t discussed much about the new season yet, but everyone is working hard. Whether it’s in attack or defense, we need to increase our game intensity. Abraham potentially joining? I vacationed with him, but we didn’t talk about football matters.”
