The British Guardian has made a sharp commentary on France’s elimination, suggesting that the French team is almost playing “anti-football.”
The Guardian writes, “France is no longer playing football. This isn’t football; it’s wasting time, wasting ability, wasting talent – sheer waste.”
“The strangest thing about France is their weakness. They seldom take control of games, seemingly forgetting how to pick up the pace. Beforehand, this match was billed as a clash of styles: Spain’s innovative system against France’s rigid structure.”
“It’s odd because French football isn’t supposed to be like this. France produces more outstanding players than any other country. France is not England, where the birth of talent is seen as a gift from God. France’s dominance is earned through hard work, embodied by talents cultivated in an excellent youth and development system. Deschamps remains stubbornly defensive, with three defensive midfielders in place, but they still lost their lead. Seven defensive players could not stop Olmo’s goal.”
“That’s how it is. France has no other level, a group of gifted players trapped in their own system. Under Deschamps, they look like a team pushed into a corner. In contrast, whoever faces Spain in the final will find a team that is not only well-oiled but also enjoys rare, finely-tuned freedom.”
