On July 10th, in the semi-finals of the European Championship, Spain turned a 2-1 deficit into a victory over France, advancing to the finals. After the match, Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente commented that Spanish football has returned to its rightful level and will strive to continue making history.
Following a slump after winning three titles in five years from 2018 to 2012, Spain has once again reached the European Championship final after a 12-year absence. Speaking on the significance of reaching the final, coach Luis de la Fuente said, “We are delighted to have made it back to the final, and we’ve successfully restored Spanish football to its rightful place. But now is not the time for us to rest on our laurels; our goal is to keep writing history.”
Luis de la Fuente then discussed the strategy for the game: “Our game plan was flawless. In the first half, many of our counterattacks posed a threat. In the second half, we emphasized tactical discipline, which is why we won the semi-final.”
De la Fuente also mentioned the need for player recovery: “Now we need to focus on recovery. The players put in a tremendous effort to reach the final.”
