Kane: We Always Found a Way to Equalize in the Euros, but Unfortunately Couldn't Lift the Trophy

In the Euro final, Oyarzabal’s 86th-minute winner saw England fall 1-2 to Spain, finishing runners-up for the second consecutive Euro tournament. After the match, England captain Harry Kane spoke to ITV.

Kane said, “It’s hard to put into words how we feel right now. It was a tough game, we managed to equalize, but couldn’t gain the upper hand. Conceding so late in the game is really tough to take. Throughout this Euro tournament, we always found a way to level the score, but unfortunately, we couldn’t win the ultimate prize.”

“In the first half of today’s match, we struggled and didn’t have control of the ball. We improved in the second half, scoring a goal. However, after a misplaced pass, they capitalized on the opportunity – that’s what finals are about.”

“You have to seize your chances when they come, and once again, we didn’t do that. It’s painful, and this hurt will last a long time. We wanted to win for Southgate; he needs a break now to decide his future.”
