On July 12th, former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci spoke on the program “Pass dal BSMT” about his former club, the Bianconeri.
Bonucci stated, “Since I started playing football as a kid, I dreamed of playing for Juventus. Despite having played over 500 games for Juventus, I still did not receive a proper farewell from the club. All these years, I put Juventus above my personal happiness, above my life, and I deserved a proper farewell.”
Bonucci added, “I made that decision (to leave in 2017 and transfer to AC Milan) because I didn’t want to affect the entire dressing room. I did it so as not to impact the team, not to hurt Juventus.”
Bonucci officially joined the Bianconeri in 2010, making 502 appearances for the team, scoring 37 goals, and providing 10 assists. In the summer of 2023, he left Turin to join Bundesliga side Union Berlin, before briefly playing for Turkish Super Lig team Fenerbahçe for half a year, then announcing his official retirement from football.
