On August 5, the draw for the 24/25 Europa Conference League play-offs was made, with Chelsea set to face the loser of the match between Braga and Sion.
Chelsea had an average season last year, finishing sixth in the Premier League with a record of 18 wins, 9 draws, and 11 losses, earning 63 points. They reluctantly secured a spot in the Europa Conference League play-offs and must get through this stage to reach the group stage of the third-tier European competition.
Braga finished fourth in the Portuguese Liga last season with 68 points, 22 points behind league champions Sporting CP. Sion came in third in the Swiss Super League, one point behind runners-up Lugano but 13 points adrift of leaders Young Boys Bern.
In the comments section of the club’s post announcing the draw, Chelsea fans did not hold back, with the top comment reading: “Speaking on behalf of all Chelsea fans, we don’t need any information about this competition. Thanks.”
