Miami International Executive: Considering Friendly Match with Barcelona; Messi Could Return to the Nou Camp

According to Spanish media outlet Sport World, Miami FC’s sports operations director, Asensi, has stated that the club is not ruling out arranging a friendly match against Barcelona at the new Nou Camp, which could see Messi make a return to the stadium.

Asensi commented, “We had considered playing a friendly match against Barcelona during the preseason quite some time ago. However, we were focused on preparing for the league cup and didn’t have the bandwidth to consider friendlies. Whether it’s in December this year or January next year, I don’t know what would be the right time. If you want to see Messi return to the new Nou Camp and receive adulation from fans, it depends on the right moment. We will discuss these things.”

Currently, reconstruction work on the new Nou Camp is underway. According to plans, the new venue is expected to open in November of this year, more precisely on November 19th, which marks the 125th anniversary of FC Barcelona’s foundation. If both sides do organize a friendly match as planned, given that Barcelona owes Messi a proper farewell, this might be an excellent opportunity to rectify past regrets for both parties.
