La Liga Income Rankings: Mbappé Only Third, De Jong Tops Ahead of Lewandowski, Real Madrid Players Dominate Top Ten

European media outlet 90min has revealed the La Liga player income rankings as of July 20, local European time. Kylian Mbappé’s salary can only place him third, with Frenkie de Jong and Robert Lewandowski occupying the first and second spots, respectively. Six players from Real Madrid are among the top ten.

The highest earner is Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong, whose annual income reaches a staggering €37.5 million. According to previous reports by Catalan media, de Jong’s guaranteed after-tax salary for last season was approximately €18 million (increasing to €19 million this season), in addition to significant performance-related bonuses. Last season, these bonuses amounted to €6.2 million, plus taxes, making the outlay by Barcelona truly remarkable.

In second place is Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski, with an income of €33.5 million. The newly signed Real Madrid French megastar Kylian Mbappé earns an annual salary of €31.2 million, placing him third on the list. However, according to previous reports by AS, although Mbappé’s salary ranks only third in La Liga, it is not his primary source of income. He will receive a substantial signing bonus (commonly given to free transfers, with Mbappé’s being particularly significant) from Real Madrid. Additionally, Real Madrid allows Mbappé to retain 60-80% of his image rights, and considering the club’s unrivaled commercial prowess, this will generate considerable earnings for the French player and his team. In summary, Mbappé’s actual income far exceeds this ranking.

The players ranked fourth through tenth in terms of salary are David Alaba (Real Madrid, €22.5 million), Jan Oblak (Atlético Madrid, €20.8 million), Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid, €20.8 million), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid, €18.7 million), İlkay Gündoğan (Barcelona, €16.6 million), Federico Valverde (Real Madrid, €15 million), and Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid, €14.5 million).

Six of the top ten earners play for Real Madrid, three for Barcelona, and one for Atlético Madrid.
