According to Bild, following Fülkrug’s imminent departure to join West Ham United, Borussia Dortmund have zeroed in on Hoffenheim forward Bayel as his replacement.
The 21-year-old Bayel, a product of Hoffenheim’s youth academy, has made a total of 46 appearances for the team so far, scoring 18 goals and providing four assists. Last season, he made 33 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 16 goals, and was included in Germany’s squad for this summer’s European Championship.
Hoffenheim are reportedly asking for between 25 and 30 million euros for Bayel. Following Fülkrug’s transfer, Dortmund are willing to pay the transfer fee to sign this rising star, who will compete with Girassi for the starting center-forward position in the new season.
