Spanish Media: US Tour to Bring Barcelona €11 Million in Revenue, Alleviating Club's Financial Struggles

According to Spain’s AS newspaper, Barcelona’s summer tour of the United States will generate €11 million in revenue. During this tour, the friendly match against Real Madrid will bring in €5 million for Barcelona, while the games against Manchester City and AC Milan will each earn €3 million.

In recent years, summer tours have not only focused on sports competition but have also increasingly emphasized economic benefits and marketing. Top clubs increase their income sources through preseason matches around the world. Barcelona is one of the pioneers of this trend, having made the United States a regular destination for its summer tours in recent years. As the U.S. soccer market continues to develop and with the promotional effect of the upcoming World Cup, top teams like Barcelona, Manchester City, and Real Madrid have become regular participants in U.S. summer events.

According to reports, Barcelona plans to play three friendlies during this tour, with total revenues expected to reach €11 million, broken down as follows: The match against Real Madrid (August 3) will bring in €5 million, while the games against Manchester City (July 30) and AC Milan (August 6) will each earn €3 million. Notably, the organizers will cover all travel and accommodation expenses for the team, meaning that Barcelona will receive a substantial additional income, which will help alleviate its current financial difficulties.

It is also worth noting that in some cases, teams may face fines if they do not field star players in matches. However, there are no such rules for this tour, and Barcelona will still receive the full agreed-upon revenue even if it is missing ten first-team players.
