The Daily Mail reports that some spectators are questioning whether swimming queen Titmus gained an unfair advantage through her yellow nail polish at the Olympics.
Titmus has already secured gold medals in the 4x200m freestyle relay and the 400m freestyle, and narrowly lost to teammate Mollie O’Callaghan in the 200m freestyle.
Titmus now has a total of four Olympic gold medals, but one swimming enthusiast claims that her manicure is the key to her success. The fan asked, “How is this manicure allowed? With results so close, any trivial advantage should be considered.”
One sports fan agreed that Titmus had been given preferential treatment – “They (the nails) work like fins, giving her an unfair advantage.”
Another fan said, “I love it… the gold (nails) match her medals.”
The general consensus is that this is not why Titmus has won two golds from the competition, nor are there rules prohibiting athletes from entering the water with manicures.
One fan said, “When someone starts accusing you of cheating, you know how good you are.”
Another fan sarcastically responded, “Titmus’ manicure is the key to winning… this is nitpicking.”
