August 4 – According to the latest news from British media The Mirror, both Manchester United and Chelsea have joined the pursuit for Real Madrid’s 16-year-old central defender, Joan Martinez. This young defender, who comes from Levante’s youth academy, officially joined Real Madrid’s youth academy in 2023. He participated in pre-season friendlies in the US with Real Madrid this summer and made an appearance against Barcelona.
Currently playing for Real Madrid’s U19 team, he has only been training with the first team a few times. In these training sessions, he has often competed against Vinicius and has managed to win several times. However, it is reported that Real Madrid currently has no plans to promote him to the first team.
It is reported that he is a tall central defender at just 16 years old (188 cm), with a strong presence. He performs well in the air, dominating and easily handling open spaces. He is proactive, able to easily defend forwards, and remains calm during defensive plays; he also makes notable contributions in ball control.
