Aspaper Hails Zheng Qinwen's Victory: Spanish Coach Played a Key Role, Assisted by Real Madrid’s Nutritionist

In the women’s singles gold medal match at the Paris Olympic Games, Zheng Qinwen defeated Croatia’s Donna Vekic to win the Olympic gold. The famous Spanish media outlet, often dubbed as “Real Madrid’s mouthpiece,” Aspaper, published a special article on this event and emphasized that both Spaniards and Real Madrid played significant roles in Zheng Qinwen’s success.

Despite misspelling Zheng Qinwen’s name (as Qinqen Zeng), the Spanish press pointed out: “Zheng Qinwen needed only 1 hour and 45 minutes to defeat her Croatian opponent 6-2, 6-3 and claim the gold medal in the women’s singles tennis event at the Olympics. She achieved this success alongside her Spanish coach Pere Riba, and together they reached the pinnacle. They also beat world number one Pole Iga Swiatek in the semifinals, who went on to win the bronze.”

The report highlighted: “Zheng Qinwen began working with Riba in 2021; they parted ways last year but reunited this year, achieving great success. Together, they won China’s second gold medal in Olympic tennis, and the first in the singles category, marking a historic breakthrough. The 21-year-old Chinese tennis star has continued to achieve success, winning titles in Palermo, Italy, and Zhengzhou, China.”

Both Spanish media and the Chinese Olympic team have introduced that Zheng Qinwen’s current team mainly consists of a coach, fitness trainer, agent, and four others, plus a nutritionist who provides assistance and is also a part-time employee of Real Madrid.
