The report states that the Premier League charged Manchester City with 22 rule violations, all related to the past two seasons, including a fine of over £2 million for delaying the start of matches. In the final game of last season, in which Manchester City defeated West Ham United, they were found to have delayed the kickoff by 2 minutes and 46 seconds, ultimately securing their fourth consecutive title.

Manchester City accepted the decision of the Premier League, which was approved by an independent three-person panel.

A statement from the Premier League said: “These breaches relate to multiple Premier League matches during the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons and concern rules around kick-off and restarts, which help ensure the organization of matches meets the highest professional standards and provides certainty for fans and participating clubs.”

It is understood that Manchester City has apologized for the 22 breaches and confirmed that it has reminded the club’s players and football management team to comply with the rules. Payment of the fine must be completed within 14 days of this sanction agreement taking effect.
