Argentine star Alvarez has stated in an interview with DSports that he will decide his future after the Olympics, not ruling out the possibility of leaving Manchester City.
Alvarez is one of the most watched players over the past month. On the field, he helped Argentina win the Copa America and is currently participating in the Olympics. Off the field, his future at Manchester City is uncertain. Many top European clubs are interested in him, with Atletico Madrid rumored to be the most likely next destination.
During an interview at the training camp in France, Alvarez said he hasn’t made any decisions yet. He said, “I still have time to consider my decision. I haven’t had a chance to think things through calmly. After the Olympics, I’ll take some time to think about what I want, and we’ll see.”
Despite Guardiola giving him considerable playing time last season, Alvarez feels it wasn’t enough. At Manchester City, he faces fierce competition from Haaland, which could lead him to consider leaving the club for more opportunities.
Alvarez said, “Last season, I was one of the players with the most playing time in the Premier League, but when I didn’t get the chance in some important matches, I was indeed unhappy.”
Alvarez also discussed Argentina’s current situation at the Olympics but refused to talk about the opening match scandal against Morocco. Alvarez said, “We move forward regardless of what happens. Making winning a habit is the best thing, and that’s what we’ve experienced with the national team. We hope to do the same at other levels.”
Argentina will face Ukraine in their final group stage match on Tuesday, with the team’s initial goal being to advance, but ultimately aiming to win the Olympic gold medal.
