On the early morning of August 4, the Chinese team won the silver medal in the mixed 4x100m medley relay at the Paris Olympics. Qin Haiyang, swimming the second leg in the breaststroke, delivered an excellent performance with a time of 57.82 seconds, placing first in the breaststroke segment. In a post-race interview with the media, Qin also addressed the issue of frequent doping tests.
Qin Haiyang said, “Firstly, I would like to thank the entire team and all those who support me. Life goes on; no matter what happens, we can only keep looking forward and do our best in what comes next, focusing on doing our own job well.”
Regarding doping tests, Qin responded, “I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been tested, but I’m often woken up at 6 a.m. for these tests.” He also mentioned that such unfounded accusations have put undue pressure on the team.
According to the schedule, the swimming events will enter their final day tomorrow. The Chinese team will compete in both the men’s and women’s 4x100m medley relays. The men’s team advanced to the finals with a second-place qualifying time of 3:31.58, while the women’s team also secured a spot in the gold-medal race with a second-place qualifying time of 3:56.34.
