Former French captain Hugo Lloris recently addressed the controversy surrounding Enzo Fernández’s contentious song, expressing his shock and hoping that the football world can steer clear of all forms of racism.
Lloris said, “This has nothing to do with whether you are basking in the glory of winning a title; champions should bear greater responsibility. You don’t want to see or hear such things in the world of football; we all hope to stand against discrimination and racism.”
“I only hope this was an isolated mistake, sometimes we all make mistakes, and I hope we can learn from them.”
Speaking about the recent performances of the Argentine national team, Lloris added, “Argentina is now the face of football, not just in South America, but in the entire world. The achievements they have accomplished on the pitch over the past four to five years deserve praise.”
“But when you win, you become a role model for others, especially for children. This behavior is an attack on the people of France, particularly those of African descent and their families.”
