Recently, Japanese football legend Nagatomo Makoto, while appearing on the Tokyo Broadcasting System’s show FOOT×BRAIN, discussed the future prospects of the Japanese national team.
When asked about the possibility of Japan winning the World Cup in the future, Nagatomo Makoto admitted that it would be very challenging, but also stated that it would require a collective effort from society to achieve this goal.
He said, “(To win the World Cup) we can’t rely solely on those directly involved with football; the local football culture is also important. How much passion people have, how much they are truly committed? This includes the media and fans, not just the players and coaches. If everyone approaches it with such passion and dedication, it will happen someday.”
