Gold! Men’s 10m Air Rifle: Chinese Shooter Sheng Lihao Claims the Title & Breaks Olympic Record

At 18:00 on July 29, the men’s 10m air rifle final took place at the Paris Olympics. Ultimately, Sheng Lihao secured the championship with a score of 252.2 points and broke the Olympic record. It’s worth noting that the world record in this event is also held by Sheng Lihao, who scored 254.5 points at the Munich leg of the Shooting World Cup in June this year.

The men’s 10m air rifle final started with two rounds of ten shots each for the base score, after which the last-placed shooter was eliminated every two shots until the champion was decided.

In the ten-shot base score stage, Sheng Lihao scored 105.8 points, placing him first, while Croatian shooter Maric scored 105.0 points, placing him second.

In the first round of the second phase, Sheng Lihao scored 20.7 points, bringing his total to 126.5 points and keeping him in the lead, with Indian shooter Bhati moving up to second place.

In the second round, Sheng Lihao consistently scored high with 10.8 and 10.9 points. After this round, Sheng Lihao led with 148.2 points, ahead of the Indian shooter by 1.3 points.

In the third round, Sheng Lihao scored 10.9 and 10.7 points in his first shot, and with a total of 169.8 points, he continued to lead, increasing his advantage to 2 points.

In the fourth round, Chinese shooter Sheng Lihao scored 20.4 points over two shots, ranking first with 190.2 points, while Maric from Croatia placed second.

In the fifth round, Sheng Lihao scored 10.5 points in his first shot and 9.8 points in his second, totaling 210.5 points and leading the second-place shooter by 0.7 points.

In the sixth round, Sheng Lihao adjusted his state in time, scoring 10.7 points first and then 9.9 points, totaling 231.1 points, leading the second-place Swedish shooter Viktor by 0.6 points, while Maric won the bronze medal.

In the seventh round, Sheng Lihao scored 10.5 points in his first shot and 10.6 points in his second. Ultimately, Sheng Lihao claimed the title with a score of 252.2 points!
