According to the ATP Tour’s Chinese social media, Alcaraz was unable to secure a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Despite losing to Djokovic in the final, the Olympic spirit still burns within the Spaniard.
Alcaraz stated, “I’ve always wanted to win this gold medal, that’s for sure. But winning the silver, I’m really proud of it. My career so far has been brilliant, and I hope it continues.”
“Honestly, I’m proud of what I’ve achieved today, proud to bring a medal back to Spain. I’m sure my moment will come, and one day I will win gold for Spain. So I’ll wait for that moment and work hard for it. But now I have to enjoy the joy of winning the silver, which is also incredible.”
This year, Alcaraz won his third and fourth Grand Slam titles at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, respectively. He also claimed his fifth Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells in March.
Regarding his performance in the final, he said: “Losing like this hurts me a lot. I had opportunities but I couldn’t capitalize on them. Novak played well, raising his level in difficult moments and playing incredibly. I’m really disappointed, but honestly, I’ll leave the court with my head held high. I gave everything for the Spanish team, and I’m proud of my performance today.”
According to his schedule, Alcaraz’s next tournament will be the Cincinnati Masters.
