According to Spanish media outlet Relevo, Polish forward Robert Lewandowski’s salary for this season will reach €32 million. Per the contract, if his appearance rate does not reach 55% this season, Barça can terminate his contract unilaterally next summer.
The Spanish media suggests that this could be a decisive season for Lewandowski’s future at Barça. It is his third season with the club and also the one in which he earns the most.
Catalan radio station SER revealed that Lewandowski’s pre-tax income in his first season at Barça was €20 million, €26 million in the second season, and will reach €32 million this season, before dropping back down to €26 million in the final season (2025/2026).
However, there is an important additional clause in his contract. If Lewandowski plays less than 55% of Barça’s total matches in the 2024/2025 season, the club can unilaterally terminate his contract next summer.
This clause provides a route for the player to leave the club. Last season, Barça became dissatisfied with Lewandowski’s performance, and the club will now closely monitor his displays. Although it seems unlikely that this clause will be enforced, the situation echoes similar cases, such as when Diego Simeone strictly controlled the playing time of Antoine Griezmann while at Atlético Madrid.
