UK Media: After Southgate's Departure, The FA's Task Is to Pursue Klopp Wholeheartedly

On July 16, following Gareth Southgate’s announcement of his resignation as head coach of the England national team, The Guardian suggested that the Three Lions should hire the currently unemployed Jürgen Klopp.

The Guardian stated that the Football Association’s (FA) next task is to pursue Klopp vigorously to become the new head coach: “Compared to others, Klopp is absolutely perfect. We do not recommend that the England team hires another homegrown coach; they do not have the capability to lead the Three Lions, with top candidates Sean Dyche and Eddie Howe having no experience in winning significant trophies. To achieve success on the international stage, the head coach must establish a strong system and culture within the team, and Klopp is undoubtedly well-suited for this role.”

In addition, it compared Klopp and Southgate: “Like Southgate, Klopp excels at building team culture and pays attention to the details. However, Klopp is the premium version of Southgate, with a successful track record and rich experience. His long-term coaching experience in the Premier League means Klopp has a deep understanding of English players and knows how to develop appropriate tactics for the team.”

Regarding Klopp’s salary, it mentioned: “Under the current budget, the FA may struggle to afford Klopp’s salary. However, England reached the final of the European Championship and received a substantial prize, which could be used to fund the new coach’s salary.”

The Guardian suggested that Klopp might help England take another step forward: “Sometimes we wonder whether the current England players, under the guidance of a great coach, could go one step further and win a title. Following another runner-up finish at the European Championship, we need to reflect.”
