Sun Jiajun swam in lane 6 of heat 2, finishing first in his group with a time of 51.85 seconds, ranking 19th overall, and thus failing to qualify for the semi-finals or a reserve spot.
Wang Changhao swam in lane 7 of heat 3, placing seventh in his group with a time of 52.37 seconds, ranking 26th overall.
