The son of former Inter Milan, Manchester City, and Italy national team champion coach Roberto Mancini, Andrea Mancini, will take on the role of transfer deputy manager at Barcelona, assisting Deco. This news has been confirmed by Barcelona’s mouthpiece, ‘Mundo Deportivo’, and Italian football expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano revealed: “Andrea Mancini, the son of Mancini, will join Deco’s team, with the plans now finalized. Andrea will relocate to Barcelona next week after handing over his duties at Sampdoria, starting a new chapter in his life.”
‘Mundo Deportivo’ pointed out: “The hustle and bustle in Barcelona’s offices will not cease even after securing the transfer of Olmo from Leipzig. The management will continue to act, signing a new staff member for the office: the Italian Andrea Mancini, son of former player and coach Roberto Mancini, and current sporting director of Sampdoria. This is something that has been in the works for weeks, with Deco meeting with Andrea a few days ago to finalize the contract terms.”
According to Catalan media, Barcelona’s future structure will see Rafael Yuste as head of the sports department (including other teams), Deco as transfer manager, Andrea as Deco’s deputy, and Bojan Krkić as coordinator, primarily responsible for coordinating matters related to the first team, La Masia, and loaned-out players.
Andrea Mancini is 31 years old. His playing career was not successful; although he played for the youth teams of Manchester City and Inter Milan, he never made an appearance for either club’s first team. After stints with Valladolid, Budapest, and some teams in the United States, he retired at the age of 25 in 2017. In 2018, he completed a course in becoming a sporting director and briefly worked as a football agent. He then served as assistant to director Prade at Fiorentina. In 2023, he joined Sampdoria and was subsequently appointed as sporting director, overseeing scouting and transfers.
