Arnold: Lineker's Criticism During the Euros Had a Positive Impact – We Turned It Into Motivation

During the European Championship, English football legend Gary Lineker criticized the England national team, stating that their performance was “abysmal” and harshly critiqued Gareth Southgate’s tactics. Today, English football star Trent Alexander-Arnold gave an exclusive interview to The Mirror, during which he discussed Lineker’s criticism of England.

Alexander-Arnold said, “We all saw, heard, and felt Lineker’s criticism. We know we can perform better, but it’s never good when someone else says it. We all understand that. Regardless, we were always aware that we needed to improve, and we’ve turned this criticism into motivation.”

“I know everyone has high expectations for England, so the criticism is understandable. As players, we share those expectations; we believe we should win every game. That’s the standard we set for ourselves, regardless of who the coach is.”
