On July 21, the Newcastle Jets announced that forward Stamateasopoulos has officially left the club and is set to join a European team.
The Jets did not disclose the transfer fee in their announcement, nor did they reveal Stamateasopoulos’ specific new club. The club admitted that there was still one year remaining on his contract but allowed this meritorious player to pursue his World Cup dream in European football.
The 25-year-old Stamateasopoulos first played for the Jets between January and August 2021, returning to the club last July. Last season, he made 25 appearances in the Australian league, scoring 17 goals and providing two assists.
It is reported that Stamateasopoulos will continue his career in England, although his new club remains unknown.
