Bayern Munich's Daniel Pereztz Announces Withdrawal from Paris Olympics Due to Hamstring Injury on Social Media

July 19: Bayern Munich’s third-choice goalkeeper, Daniel Pereztz, announced on social media on Thursday local time that he will withdraw from the upcoming Paris Olympics due to a hamstring injury. He had previously been included in Israel’s Olympic squad.

In his social media post, Pereztz wrote, “It’s always tough when you get so close to your dream and then realize you won’t be able to experience it. The timing of my injury and the expected recovery period made what I thought was a slight chance now truly impossible.”

“I believe in my friends and teammates to achieve our goals, and I’ll now be your number one fan. Thank you for all the caring messages; I promise I’ll come back stronger and better,” Pereztz added.

The goalkeeper had hoped to participate in the Olympic football tournament (held from July 24 to August 10 in Paris), which would have meant missing almost all of the pre-season preparations under new coach Vincent Kompany, including the Asia tour (from July 24 to August 10).
