On August 5th, the Olympic shooting event for the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol entered its final round. After intense competition, Chinese shooter Li Yuehong scored 32 points to win the gold medal, South Korean shooter Jo Yong-jae took silver with 25 points, and Chinese shooter Wang Xinjie claimed bronze with 23 points.
In the first group, both Chinese shooters hit their targets flawlessly, each scoring five out of five.
In the second group, Wang Xinjie hit three targets, while Li Yuehong also hit three, but remained in the lead temporarily with eight hits.
In the third group, Wang Xinjie hit three targets, German shooter Peter hit four, leveling their total scores. Li Yuehong, under pressure, hit four targets, continuing to lead with twelve hits.
In the fourth group, both Chinese shooters hit two out of five targets, while South Korean shooter Jo Yong-jae led with fifteen hits. Li Yuehong and two other competitors were tied for second with fourteen hits, and Wang Xinjie ranked fifth with thirteen hits.
In the fifth group, Wang Xinjie hit four targets, followed by Jo Yong-jae, Peter, and Li Yuehong, all hitting four.
In the sixth group, Wang Xinjie hit three targets, tying with Peter for third place. After an additional shot, he won 4-2, placing Peter in fourth. Li Yuehong hit four targets, moving up to first place, while Jo Yong-jae hit two, ranking second temporarily.
In the seventh group, Li Yuehong hit four targets, maintaining his lead by three hits. Wang Xinjie, after hitting three targets, secured third place and the bronze medal.
In the last group, Li Yuehong hit all five targets, securing the gold medal in advance. This was the fifth gold medal for the Chinese shooting team at this competition and the 20th gold medal for the Chinese Olympic delegation at the Paris Olympics.
Notably, with the 20th gold medal, the Chinese delegation surpassed the United States in the medal standings, rising to first place temporarily.
