July 20 – Recently, the CEO of Bologna attended a press conference and personally addressed rumors about the transfer of defender Calafiori to Arsenal. Claudio Fenucci stated, “No, there has been no progress.”
On Friday, Fenucci spoke to reporters after leaving a meeting of Serie A club executives. When asked if there had been any progress on Calafiori’s transfer, he replied, “No, there has been no progress.”
Juventus had previously tried to hijack Arsenal’s move for Calafiori, hoping to sign him, but as the price rose, they seemed to have dropped out of the race. Bologna appears to have ruled out their chances entirely, saying, “No, I haven’t heard from them.”
According to the Evening Standard, Calafiori is due to return to Bologna next week for pre-season training camp. Arsenal’s latest offer is said to be around £8 million less than what Bologna is demanding, with the Italian side reportedly seeking a fee of £42 million, a price Arsenal has so far been unwilling to meet.
