In his post-match interview, Xiao Ruoteng spoke about Su Weide’s mistakes, saying, “None of us are immune to making mistakes. If any one of us had performed better, we might have won the gold.”

“We still have the strength. I don’t know whether it’s regrettable or not. Right now, when I think about it, I can’t help but want to laugh—it’s just so strange. Life is always like this.”

Speaking about his tears after the match, Xiao Ruoteng said, “I cried because I felt like I didn’t perform well, which is very disappointing. You might say that this was my last Olympic Games, and I put in so much effort, and yet I missed out on the gold again. But I don’t find that meaningful. Life is always like this. Accept it calmly? I can’t accept it. It’s hard to explain; I’m in a state of confusion right now.”
